In loving memory of Clive Cook who sadly passed away on 26th June 2022
The funeral service was held at on Monday 1st August at St Thomas Aquinas RC Church, Ham, followed by a reception at The New Inn on Ham Common. Please feel welcome to leave a personal tribute below. A video recording of the service is shared below, unfortunately due to a technical issue at the church there was no live webcast available.
FUNERAL SERVICE
Live-stream Update: The responsibility for a venue’s internet connection and ability to provide a live stream rests entirely with the venue. Live-streaming is now a daily part of funeral services and it is a reasonable expectation that a venue hosting the live-streaming would inform the family or the funeral director if there was a known problem.
The church were fully aware of the live stream requirements for Clive’s funeral but unfortunately did not inform neither the family or funeral director that their internet was not working – which meant that the planned for live webcast was unavailable.
The church has taken responsibility for not informing anyone until after the funeral service and are extremely apologetic for the distress caused.
As the funeral director, we improvised as best as we could as soon as we were made aware of the issue which was after the service had started.
A funeral is both private and emotional, it would have been inappropriate for us to be seen standing with a phone, recording, so we used our discretion using a phone to record beneath a decent speaker in the side room. This recording is below, and will be limited in its quality.
As a family funeral director, we work closely with the families we help and to see the distress this situation has caused has been most upsetting for all. The church has now spoken with the family.

There are some people that belongs to part of your memory and life.
Clive is one in my life. He was a kind of person that things should be done now.
I remember he arranging one day to hide a bike to Oxford. It was an idea but next day he was ready with his bike in front of my door and in couple of hours we were in the middle of nowhere following our GPS to Oxford. I will never forget. That was only one of many adventures. Thanks for everything Clive. Sue and children, my sympathy. God bless you.

From the very start of our friendship (way back in 1987) Clive was always a very special friend. His humour and his interesting approach to life made him memorable! He certainly was a great deal of fun to hang with.
He leaves behind a very loving family. I consider myself very fortunate as I shall be able to keep his memory alive through my friendship with Sueli.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Clive’s passing and truly regret not reconnecting with him in later life for a beer and a catch up. My thoughts go out to his wife and family at this very sad time. Clive was special to me even though I hadn’t seen him in 40 years. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend his funeral, due to logistics, but I will certainly be thinking of him and everyone else at 10am on the 1st August.

To an amazing boss and friend whom I’ve for over 32 years. I went for an interview at AA in Portland House and we got stuck in the lift that is where the interview took place. We’ve friends ever since. Shame that I can’t attend the funeral today as I am now living in Seychelles, and a place on his bucket list to visit. Dear brave friend ….. You were full of hope you would overcome the illness. You will always be remembered as a good man, noble friend, incredible partner. Adventurer, funny, committed person! I still remember when you left your role in London to come down to Madrid and worked in the Tarmac 40 degrees C. I owe you my job in BA and night in a Russian restaurant in London paying your guitar at my farewell venue! Thank you for being a person that made a difference in every thing he touched and met!
Rest in peace dear Clive ….

Clive, gone way too soon. Some of my fondest memories at AA was when we worked together. We had some of the best laughs, in depth chats and complete silliness. These memories will always stay with me. RIP. Zoé xxx

Clive loved life more than anyone I’ve ever know and lived life to the full. He enjoyed a challenge and the grittier and more dangerous the better! In the 35 years since we met at American Airlines in Victoria he has always been such fun and so full of joy and laughter and it is with great sorrow that I say goodbye to him.
God bless you Clive x

We were deeply saddened by the passing of Clive.
For the few years i have known Clive,, he was a remarkable man and i felt like i got myself a life coach, mentor and a friend . He had a listening ear and always ready to help in whatever way he can . He taught me not to get stressed too much with life.
I hope God will wipe away every tear from his family’s eyes and i want them to remember that,, “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day…unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear”
It was a pleasure to have Clive in our lives . Thank you for everything and i hope you will keep smiling until we meet again .

I met Clive at the newly formed Miami Division overseeing Florida, the Caribbean, Latin America and Mexico, as a result of AA’s purchase of Eastern Airlines. Clive was recruited by AA from the Controller’s Office in London. His 10 years experience at that office greatly benefitted the 58 locations that Clive would audit and bring the Eastern operations into the AA fold. As a polyglot, his extensive managerial skills led him to travel to all locations. He was a team builder, expert in his field, he worked well with rank and file, charismatic personality, endless joie de vivre, it was alwaysan honor for employees to work and learn from him. His extended stay in Brazil led him to meet our then Accounting Manager for Brazil, Sueli. Both experts in their fields, Sue had a fiery, assertive, effective and keen on her fiduciary duties to the corporation. they developed a personal relationship that led to marriage in Miami in 1995, and 2 sons in 8/1996 and 2/1998,Daniel and Nicholas. After 10 years at the MIA Division, Clive was relocated back to London as a Controller for Europe, soon after running LHR as AA’s general Manager and then becoming a high level Managing Director for Europe, Asia and the South Pacific. Sueli herself and MBA holder, urged Clive to further his education as an example for his growing children and for employees alike. As the saying goes: Behind every successful man, there is a strong woman holding it all together. Sueli transformed Clive into a brilliant gem, radiating confidence, developing employees into the best they could be, with an easy management style, but firm, hard working, dedicated, loyal and a can do attitude. He was an accomplished musician, composer and singer, but kept those skills to family, friends, colleagues and performing at local organizations. Sueli was a savvy investor with her own assets but also made life very comfortable for the family, their education and lifestyle. Daniel and Nicholas are successful and accomplished professionals in their own fields. Clive should be very proud of the dedicated, loving and diligent wife Sue and their children. As a Budgets&Cost Analyst for the MIA Division, I could envision a successful and happy relationship…and so it was. Clive, may your journey and travels continue accompanied by your faithful guardian angel. May you be in the Light! My deepest sorrows for Sueli, Daniel, Nicholas and Laila. In time, you will all be OK. Love you all.
