Ileana, you were an inspiration to me and so many others in the time you worked with us GTR. I’m so sorry that time has been cut tragically short. I know that what you did at work was just one, small part of a very rich and happy life, but please know that your efforts to keep your colleagues healthy and safe meant so much to us all.
Rest in Peace
Tom
Dearest Illeana
From the very first day I met you, when I just joined GTR and was unsure of myself and the new company ~ you gave me a huge hug and welcomed me! It was unconventional, unexpected but absolutely lovely and made me feel at ease.
These three words pretty much sum you up Illeana, in the short time I knew you, you were wonderfully unconventional, always with a gleam in your eye! And you were absolutely lovely ~ a truly generous person who gave of yourself and wished only to look after others.
I wish I could have known you longer.
May you be forever at rest Illeana
Emile xxx (and one last huge hug)

I am shocked to hear of the passing of dear Illeana.
While we did not work together directly, we would share a laugh at many external meetings and I often bumped into Illeana shopping in Richmond – one of her favourite hobbies!
It was always fun to be around her bubbly, warm and funny nature and a joy knowing her.
Wherever you are I wish you peace and your family strength.
Lots of love, Monika xx

I will miss Illeana terribly. She would light up wherever she goes, with her joy, kindness, tremendous sense of humour, thoughtfulness and intelligence. She had a way about her to make others feel special.
A Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, when you went to her, you knew things would be fine. She was simply incomparable. Gone, but will never be forgotten.

Sounds like a lie or…at least I would like this to be a lie.

Illeana you will be missed hugely by your colleagues and friends at GTR. Your support for us generated trust and respect from all those that met you. Your regular briefings during this pandemic were a wonderful mixture of authority and authenticity rivalling any media Doctors I have ever seen. Your colleagues have said that you were outstanding both in what you did and in the way that you did it. Thank you for being a part of our life.

It’s hard to write in words of how you and many others in OH have inspired me. With your resilience, jokes, intelligence and beauty. Not sure how you did it, but you always found a solution to a problem!
Working with you has opened my eyes in many aspects, and there was never ever a dull moment working with you !
If I was ever confused and needed a hand, your door was always open.
I will miss your humour, the sound of your laughter from your office.
Thank you for being you.
Rest in Peace

You touched so many people’s lives with your warm personality, kind heart and supportiveness. You were also direct when you needed to be. I don’t feel I thank you for being a mentor. I think of you regularly as your wise words still influence me! You will be greatly missed. Thank you for everything

Dear Illeana, I am so shocked and saddened to hear the news that you have gone. You lit up my events from the moment that you walked through any door, year on year, always in a happy, chirpy group. You were always respectful of everybody, charming with cheeky requests and you were a smiley, positive influence which was very motivational. I have learnt from you and I promise to take forward those lessons of professionalism, dignity and fun. I feel blessed to have known you. Thank you and rest in peace.

I am still shocked and saddened terribly by your passing. You were such a ray of sunlight and impacted everyone you came in contact with. You always brightened up my day and it was such pleasure engaging with you. The pain of your passing although real brings home the fact that life is truly short. We will miss you terribly most especially your loved ones. Farewell my friend.

Dear Illeana
Thank you. I am blessed to have known you as a my trainer & coach in what I do and live everyday now for the rest of my life. Above all you have also been a very good friend to whom I could reach out whenever I needed. I never felt the need to keep in touch to maintain that bond. Whenever we met it was always as if we never stopped caring for each other. We were family. We would share our troubles and joys and advise each other….. . I am so sorry I was not aware of so much happening in your life lately as I was hoping to catch up as always after our ongoing faculty exam meetings where we had been meeting for the last few years. You have been a constant source of inspiration and support to me as my trainer and later as my colleague during my time in Occupational medicine at TFL and thereafter. You have also taught me so much in life as to how to be a better and caring person for all those around us. I often hear myself speaking your words to my friends and trainees. Blessed are everyone who has had the opportunity to have known you…. Even as you leave us you teach me ……how important it is to make time to keep in touch with all your loved ones!
Dear friend you will always stay alive in my heart.
Thank you for all the moments I was privileged to share with you.
God bless your soul and your family.
Rest in peace

I still remember the first time I introduced myself to Illeanna. I had a few complex attendance cases, and a colleague Sophia told me to email her and ask to see Illeanna. My email started your name is beautiful and unique and has a beautiful meaning just like my daughter Elana. Needless to say we got on like a house on fire. In a particularly difficult period for my area with attendance Illeanna was a fountain of wisdom, she knew how to simplify complex cases and would always give excellent practical advise on case management.
Illeanna had a bright and vivacious personality, she loved to laugh and always found a way to encourage me and make me laugh. I loved her honesty and warmth, and not only did her personality light up the room, so did her fantastic dress sense and always looked fabulous.
Thank you for being a wonderful person, you will be missed. Thank you for letting your light shine in the time I knew you, you gave others the courage to let their light shine.
My condolences to her family, I pray that God will comfort and strengthen you all at this time.
Rest Well Beautiful Lady
Blessings

Illeana,
You were and always will be for me remembered as a force of wondrous nature. A natural free spirit who knew of her capacity and capabilities. Someone who gained the trust of others because she honestly gave of herself. A person who met life and moulded it with her laughter her smile her unyielding tenaciousness. I learnt so much from you and that which you taught will remain with me. Reality is lesser for not having you in it. A chasm has opened that can never be filled.
R.I.P Illeana.
Errol
Dearest Ileana, I will always remember you as a fabulously glamorous, elegant creature with a wickedly naughty sense of humour. For someone so tiny you were a huge presence.
I will also remember you for your kind heart, your integrity and enormous generosity of spirit. You were always happy to give colleagues your time and to share your wealth of knowledge. I hope you knew how hugely respected you were, deservedly so. I know there are many out there who will have become better doctors because of the time they spent under your wing.
Some of my happiest times at OH were spent sitting around a table with you, telling stories and jokes and generally putting the world to rights. I can picture you there now with your head thrown back, roaring with laughter, pretending to be shocked by my latest raucous offering. You could always lift my spirits and make me laugh and you will never know just how much that helped me through some rough times.
I feel desperately sad not to be able to be there to celebrate your life. I know there are many others who would have wanted to be present and there would have been a huge outpouring of love. I feel privileged to have known you and worked with you. I learned a lot and will always be grateful for your support.
God speed lovely lady until we meet again. Save me a seat as I’ll have loads of new stories for you. You will be so missed xx

Dear Illeana and those who love her,
We trained together in occupational medicine in the late 1990s and I always looked forward to seeing you at the related conferences and events over these decades as we both moved through our careers. Warm, bright, funny, authentic and fun is how I will always remember you. A huge loss and sending my heartfelt condolences to your family, close friends and colleagues. What a legacy though! Keep shining brightly wherever you are resting.
Lots of love
Eva
Illeana, I first met you when we were on a selection panel for prospective MFOM trainees, our paths have crossed several times since then. I so enjoyed working with you, there was something very special about you. You inspired trainees and radiated kindness and fun. I was shocked and saddened to learn of your passing. The profession, your colleagues, friends, and your family have lost a bright and comforting light who had a twinkle in her eye and kindness in your heart. Fly high, Illeana.
Anne Harriss
My darling Ileana, the terrible news has just arrived, and it is impossible for me to say what is in my heart for you. Words are just useless, and I can only send you ALL my love…this cruel blow! However, I believe that life is eternal, and if it wasn’t for that, I’d be feeling even sadder than I do today…HUGE thanks for everything…until we meet again…XXXXXXX
