Both myself and my husband Bill have known Ruth for many, many years as the wife of Bob Heap who we have known since birth and is the brother in law of our daughter Sandra.
Always bright and cheerful, she was welcoming and warm whenever we visited Twickenham. We’ ll never forget her smiling face and her generous personallity. Her death, so young has shocked us to the core.
We will never forget her as long as we live and we send our deepest sympathy to Bob, Dylan and Lucy.

In situations like these, it is so hard to find the right words…
Ruth was kind, strong, stoic, and generous beyond belief.
I will be forever grateful for her helping my daughter excel academically in a way we never thought achievable. I witnessed how life-changing her work with dyslexic students truly was.
I feel privileged to have known this truly one-of-a-kind, beautiful human being and to be able to call her a friend.
Sending love to her lovely family x

These are the last words I wrote to Ruth – a silly Limerick on Whatsapp that I hoped might cheer her up
She’s a beautiful woman is Ruth,
If you’ve seen her you won’t need any proof,
So here is my ditty,
To say she’s so pretty,
I love her, to tell you the truth
You are beautiful still in my mind – thank you for being a friend xx

Bob and family – I’m so so sorry for your loss. I can hardly comprehend that such a force of life is no longer with us. When I think of Ruth, words that come to mind are joy, twinkle, light, warmth, energy, fun, smiles. She brought sunshine into people’s lives. I’m sure she’s looking down on us, maybe with a cheeky glass of something in her hand, asking us all to keep that force of life alive in whatever ways we can. Cherish the memories. Thinking of you all. Anna. X

Ruth gave so much to St Mary’s, supporting colleagues, parents and children and her passing is such a loss to the teaching profession and to our school.
I was honoured to be invited to visit Ruth at the hospice and I saw once again what a beautiful, dignified, strong woman she was. Rather than it being a sad time, she orchestrated it to make it a lovely memorable hour, where she asked about family and school- life and left us with yet another happy memory to treasure, brave and selfless to the end. RIP Ruth.

I was fortunate to have worked with Ruth for a number of years.

My son Archie and I were so lucky to know Ruth in 2008-2009 when we lived in Twickenham and she was part of a close circle of mums at the primary school our boys were in the same class, my husband was serving in London and away in Afghanistan and the mums scoped me up and looked after me and were so incredibly kind. Ruth was always there with her smile and giggle and either coffee or a glass of wine seemed ever present! I cannot thank Ruth and the girls enough for the enormous difference they made to my life during a difficult time so I can only imagine how wonderful it would have been to have her as a close friend for longer. God bless you Ruth you have had a huge battle and our love to Rob Dylan and Lucy who must be so proud of you. xx

The best thing that has happened in my life is meeting Ruth at primary school. We were immediately best friends and we were inseparable. We have so many wonderful memories together, inter-railing around Europe in our early 20’s, supporting each other through all of life’s ups and downs, sharing a passion for tennis, watching our children grown into amazing young adults.
Ruth was the most kind, smart, beautiful and funny person and I was very lucky to have her as my best friend for 45 years.
My deepest sympathy goes to Bob, Dylan, Lucy and Tara

I too remember Ruth’s warm and caring nature. She always went out of her way to remember details, asking after my daughter, how my new school was. I was lucky enough to work with her and to teach lovely Lucy. My thoughts are with you all at this incredibly sad time. Such a loss and will be sorely missed 💕

We had a great team at St Mary’s and Ruth was very much a part of that. She was always so calm, positive, bubbly and kind-natured, then a good laugh when we used to have a drink or 3 on a Friday!
I was devastated to hear of this news and my thoughts go out to her family. I have very fond memories of Ruth and she will be sorely missed.
